The
Greenhouse III
Series

This photographic miniseries is the third part of my ongoing series of ‘Greenhouse‘. Capturing this time the Botanical Garden in Greifswald. The Greifswald Botanical Garden was founded in 1763 and has been home to three historic greenhouses at its current location since 1886: a cold house, a palm house and a hot house. These unique steel structures, which were built two years before the Eiffel Tower, form the centrepiece of the garden and are classified as a “monument of national importance”.

The historic greenhouses offer a special insight into the diverse world of tropical plants. The plant collection focuses on tropical ecosystems with themes such as rainforests, epiphytes, orchids, palms, bamboo and ferns. The size and height of the historic greenhouses is essential for the development of these plant species. This is a unique opportunity to experience and understand important ecological relationships, the adaptation of plants to tropical habitats and the threats posed by global change.

All images were photographed analogue on Kodak Vision 3 250D film.
